Egg of Goldeneye
This pendant is designed around the egg shape and birth story of earth (according to The Kalevala). I wanted to create a piece which could be opened and the stone egg inside could be changed. This particular shape was harder to achieve than I anticipated in the beginning so instead of the filigree design I ended up doing this simple version. I'll do the filigree version later when I've done better tools for creating an egg shaped piece. The egg of goldeneye is the straight from Finnish national epos The Kalevala. The goldeneye lays eggs which are shattered. From those broken shells the land and sky are formed. The egg whites turned into the moon and stars, and the yolk became the sun.
The stone in the pictures is red jasper.
The pendant is sterling silver (925).
